WHY WE DO IT

Early on in our business it became very clear to us that the need for electric assisted bikes went well beyond what we had initially envisioned. Our goal from the start was to help everyone ride a bike so that they could “feel the wind in their hair” regardless of age, shape and ability. But we quickly understood that we could do much more.

There are many, many reasons why people give up riding a bike: chronic ilness, loss of balance, head injuries, surgery, cancer, strokes and cognitive limitations. Adapted bikes allow us to gain mobility and improve our ability to perform daily activities by strengthening our coordination and balance. Prairie Velo has built solid partnerships with Canadian companies and suppliers around the world to offer you the best adapted bikes, rollators, handcycles, tricycles, kickbikes, helmets, locks, you name it, that will get you rolling again.

And because cycling is truly for everybody, we sell exceptional regular bikes and kids bikes.

We are proud to announce that we are an official CANNONDALE dealer. We carry their outstanding TOPSTONE gravel bikes in carbon and alloy, their all new ADVENTURE NEO EQ ALLROAD e-bike, and the very popular lifestyle bike, the Cannondale Adventure 2.

Prairie Velo is very excited to have a storefront in a neighbourhood we know well and love so dearly - Winnipeg’s vibrant Wolseley. It is because of Wolseley’s unique character and the wonderful people that call it home, that Prairie Velo decided to buy and renovate the old Kit Kat grocery store at the corner of Wolseley and Ruby Street. Winnipeg’s historic Laura Secord School stands right in front of Prairie Velo and one of Winnipeg’s best cycling paths runs right past us (as does the Manitoba marathon each year).

Our Warranties

Working closely with our hand-picked manufacturers, we can offer leading battery warranties (minimum 2 years) and stand-by service. Need a new battery? We swap it out. Easy. Need a tune-up? Double easy.
