HANDCYLING

the JEDD way

Introducing… JEDD

You’ve probably never heard of JEDD handcycles , unless you lived in Vancouver in the 90’s. JEDD is the brainchild of Jeff, Ed, Dave and Dave, four pioneers in adaptive sports who were frustrated with the limited options in handbikes at the time. Embracing the notion that necessity is the mother of invention, the four pioneers took the plunge into bike design and manufacturing and turned to some of Canada’s leading bike manufacturers and disability advocates to create what would become the JEDD. It was designed around the core principles of affordability, ease of assembly and adaptability for all.

Prairie Velo got involved with the JEDD project after meeting Ed. We secured the existing inventory of bikes and are now making them available to customers anywhere. We also have a made-in-Denmark electric-assist kit that works beautifully with the JEDD.

Prairie Velo is honoured to continue the legacy of the JEDD founders - a great handbike for indoor training, recreational use or even marathons. All at an affordable price. $1,999.00 CAD ( includes 3 inch seat cushion).

Piloting a handcycle is a great cardiovascular workout, and it builds strength and tones the shoulder, arm, and abdominal muscles. Since operating a handcycle requires simultaneous management of pedals, steering, and brakes plus speed and location, it’s a great tool to improve balance and coordination. Socially, a handcycle helps a person get out into the world and take advantage of that access to meet and connect with people.
